Belma Tvico has perpetually found inspiration in ocean’s treasures. The aesthetic and symbolic potential found in deep blue waters is vast. Unknowable, volatile, and life-giving, it provides seductive setting for tales of what lies beneath the surface. Persisting in the theme of duality, Tvico found a metaphor for life in medusae: a creature both dangerous and fragile, soft and resistant, delicate and harsh. The way it moves through water is equal to the human breath and the beating of a human heart. The unknown known is explored on the silk fabric through its graceful movement, vivid color transformation, and lightness. Through the subtle hues of flame orange, fiery rose, and deep amethyst, Tvico stretches the movement through the canvas giving it freedom to expand far beyond the iconic square surface.
